The Garden Is Officially Doing Garden Things π±
There’s something incredibly satisfying about looking out the window and seeing tiny seeds transformed into actual food. After weeks of planning, digging, hauling soil, planting, watering, and crossing our fingers, our vegetable garden is finally coming to life.
This year’s lineup includes onions, carrots, lettuce, beans, peas, cabbage, tomatoes, squash, potatoes, pumpkins, and Brussels sprouts. We may have gotten a little carried away… but when you have the space, why not? Worst case scenario, we’ll be mysteriously leaving zucchini on our friends’ doorsteps by August.
The best part is that we’re already starting to harvest! Fresh lettuce has made its way onto our plates. The peas, beans, tomatoes, squash, potatoes, pumpkins, and Brussels sprouts are all growing nicely and promising plenty more to come.
Growing your own food is one of those things that reminds you to slow down. You can’t rush a carrot, negotiate with a tomato, or convince a pumpkin to hurry up. Nature works on its own schedule, and we’re just happy to be along for the ride.
Every meal that includes something we’ve grown ourselves feels like a little victory. It’s one more step toward living the off-grid life we’ve been dreaming ofβone seed, one weed, and one harvest at a time.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have a date with the garden… and probably another weed that somehow appeared five minutes after we finished weeding.
