Winter is Loosening Its Grip at The Answer

Winter around here doesn’t leave politely. It stomps around for a while dropping surprise snow and ice in March. But eventually—even in the Madawaska Valley—the ice cracks, the snow shrinks, and the land starts stretching its legs again.

Spring has started showing up at The Answer, but let’s be honest — it’s still a bit of a chaotic situation.

The snow is melting… slowly.
Very slowly.

Meanwhile the rest of the land has turned into what can only be described as peak Madawaska Valley mud season.

If you know, you know.

The trails are a mix of snowbanks, puddles, and that legendary spring mud that tries to steal your boots. Walking anywhere right now requires a good sense of humour and a willingness to get a little dirty.

The driveway, has entered its annual motocross era—a thrilling series of ruts and bumps where we cross our fingers (and sometimes our toes) and hope the car or truck makes it through. ðŸ

But underneath the mud and melting snow, the place is waking up. The forest is also starting to stir. You can hear birds testing their voices again, the ground is slowly reappearing from under the snow.

It’s not the polished version of nature you see in postcards, but honestly it might be one of the most interesting times of year here. The land is changing a little bit every day.

Soon enough the snow will finally disappear, the trails will dry out, and the dock will be back in the water.

Until then, we’ll be embracing the mud, keeping an eye on the melting lake, and patiently waiting for the warm weather to return.

Spring is coming!🌲🔥
